THE GG FIELD NOTES

What to check in a Steam trade offer

Inspect the trade contents themselves before accepting an offer.

By GG-skins Editorial · Published 15 October 2026. Original practical checklist; no item-specific rarity or value claim.

Step 1

Open Steam’s own trade interface through a trusted route. Review the recipient and every included item, rather than relying on a chat message, page title or earlier screenshot.

Step 2

After any change or counter-offer, review the contents again. Steam’s official scam guidance specifically recommends checking proposed items before acceptance. Keep your own item checklist beside the trade interface.

Step 3

If an offer does not match your order or expected items, stop and contact support through a verified channel. Never supply a password or authentication code to someone who says they need it to fix a trade.

Put it into practice

Choose two candidates. Record what is supplied, what you checked directly, and what remains unavailable. Keep their listing links and observation time. Use your notes to explain why one option fits your preference; leave unsupported claims out.
